Pride and prejudice

Pride and prejudice

Pride and prejudice - Rainbow nation car

A person can be viewed

through many a lens, many a filter.

Actions taken, harsh and cruel?

Anyone that denies it is a fool.

What would you do?

If faced with the same situation:

in the corner, cower,

stand down to the abuse of power?

Pride and prejudice - Madiba painting

The occurrences that ensued

drew the worried gaze of the Globe,

gave raging courage to the crowd,

let the crushing silence come alive, aloud.

Roaring waves of freedom

washed over the land.

Pride and prejudice:

we have a chance to fight it now, hand in hand.

For nothing is that simply solved…

as the wheels of time revolved,

greed and corruption seize our freedom,

grain by grain, day by day.

Pride and prejudice - grabbing hands

Freedom, so expensively gained,

now so cheaply squandered and left stained.

Pride and prejudice,

alongside the abyss;

we have a chance to fight it now, hand in hand.

What would you do?

In the corner, cower,

stand down to the abuse of power?

Pride and prejudice - rainbow nation

Wow. Powerful use of parallels. I also especially like the line, “Freedom so expensively gained, now so easily squandered and left stained.” Angers me…

    • Thank you! 🙂 Yes, it angers me too. All the people who feel affected (and I’m sure there are many) need to stand together against this nonsense that is going on in SA!
